Katie grew up swimming and over time has grown extremely passionate about the sport. When she moved to the Northern VA area in 2004 she got involved in triathlon and soon after made it her lifestyle. Katie loves to be active and her latest obsession is Bikram Yoga. Some of her other interests include: meteorology and physics, art, music/dancing, and wine-tasting. Katie is honored to lead Team Luna Chix and to be able to share her passion with other women. The best feeling is being outside and riding with the other Luna Chix and friends...just like riding bikes when you were little and forgetting about everything and all of life's stresses. Living amongst fanatical runners as an undergrad at the University of Virginia, Erin finally gave in and ran the Charlottesville 10 Miler in 2007. She continued running while working in South America, but her knees took a toll from overzealously picking one too many glaciers in Patagonia. In an attempt to rest (or at least that was the plan), she decided to spin at a local gym in Buenos Aires and took up swimming. Getting wet was really an effort to encourage a friend diagnosed with scoliosis who had been forced to quit cycling. Yet one workout led to another and inevitably Erin participated in her first triathlon in April of 2008. In her worldly travels, she finds kindred spirits while training. Moving to Northern Virginia has brought new possibilities, new faces, and an incredible opportunity to join Team Luna Chix in 2009! She is excited to grow as a new triathlete and share her heart for healthy living with women. While Erin TRIs for play, her Faith and passions of missions, travel, Spanish, art and muraling keep her active whereverwheneverpossible. Celebrating with mateormalbec, she is always for cheers to the next lifedefiningmoment! |

New to the sport last year, KC completed her first olympic distance triathlon with the help of Team in Training. Once hooked, she dove in and enjoys both sprint and olympic races. Although a swimmer in high school she turned to her other passions of crew in college then later hiking and rock climbing. She currently coaches a high school learn-to-row program among her many other responsibilties as a teacher. So she's been from swimming to crew, hiking to climbing, but now it's all about the bike and endurance and she's loving it, especially with help and encouragement from her LUNA teammates. |
Laura Novak |

Laura participated in her first triathlon in 2004 after a co-worker essentially dared her to do it. Even before doing the actual race she was hooked on the sport. Triathlons have now become a very important part of her life; and though she will probably never be a podium finisher, triathlons spark an internal competitiveness where in each race she strives to better than the last. When Laura is not swimming, biking or running she is usually doing something with her three boys and her husband. And in her spare time she is the PTA president and an assistant coach for flag football and baseball. |

Running has been a staple in Meg's life ever since she was young. After wearing out many, many pairs of running shoes, she began to incorporate more and more cross training into her weekly regimen, from yoga and cycling to swimming and rock climbing. In 2005, she raced in her first triathlon - and has been totally hooked ever since. The thrill of competition keeps her racing, and her passion for health, wellness and exercise keeps her training. Meg teaches spinning at a local gym and loves encouraging others to reach their potential, and she's thrilled to be able to share her knowledge and learn from her teammates as a new member of Team Luna Chix DC! She is the regional marketing manager for Glaceau and in her spare time loves to hike, explore (anything and everything), eat good food, drink good wine, and laugh whenever possible! Meg's mantra: Do or do not, there is no try (but there sure is tri!). |

Emily grew up swimming competitively in Northern Virginia, earning herself a scholarship to swim at UVA where she was an Division I NCAA All-American. Her passion for health and exercise, and her love for competition, eventually led her to Triathlons. She enjoys Sprint and Olympic/International distances, and hopes to one day complete a Half or Full Ironman! Emily is thrilled to be a member of Luna Chix DC; a team of great women for a wonderful cause. She loves the water, the mountains, yoga, vanilla bean ice cream and the color pink. She is inspired by her Mom and favorite race partner, Linda. Emily's mantra: Stand Tall and LiveStrong! |

Cris started triathlon last season after one of her childhood friends encouraged her to do a Danskin all-women's race in Denver. Cris got hooked immediately and completed two more races that year, bringing other first-time triathletes to each one. Before she started racing she "dabbled" in each of the three disciplines, but never competed or even really worked out consistently in any of them. Her favorite part of the sport is cheering on the other participants and meeting new training partners and she's especially excited about LunaChix workouts with other new triathletes. Cris' other interests include hiking with her big yellow dog and knitting. |
